A Guide to Parcent

Parcent is a traditional village in the Vall de Pop, one of the most picturesque inland areas of the Marina Alta.

The region is known for its wine production, as well as its incredible landscapes, which attract hikers and cyclists alike.

What to do in Parcent

Fiestas

Carnival

Taking place in February, Carnival is one of the most lively celebrations in Parcent. Locals dress up in costumes, known as caretas, and enjoy several days of live music and street parties.

The festivities also include events for children, as well as community meals organised by local bars and associations.

Patronal Festivities

The Patronal Festivities are held during the second week of August, attracting visitors from across the Marina Alta.

The celebrations include parades and religious events as well as a variety of activities such as fireworks displays, dances and pelota matches.

Hiking

Carrascal de Parcent

This circular route of almost 15km explores the Sierra del Carrascal to the south of Parcent.

The journey passes agricultural groves on the way to the forested terrain of the mountain range, with impressive views of the Vall de Pop.

According to the FEMECV registry, the route currently meets quality control standards.

Seguili de Parcent

This shorter route of around 7km leads to the summit of Seguili, offering great views of the surrounding valleys.

Along the way you'll discover archaeological remains, including cave paintings from the region's rich history.

FEMECV states that the route currently has quality controls in place.

What to see in Parcent

Casa de la Neu

The Casa de la Neu is an historic icehouse with a capacity of over 800 cubic metres, once used to collect snow in the winter to be sold as ice throughout the year.

It can be reached via a small detour from the Carrascal de Parcent route, offering an interesting glimpse into traditional life before modern refrigeration.

Mirador Coll de Rates

The Coll de Rates is one of the most famous mountain passes in the Marina Alta, marking the boundary with the Marina Baja.

The viewpoint along the CV-715 road offers spectacular views across the valleys, and the climb itself is especially popular with cyclists.

Parcent has a variety of popular options for dining.

  • Restaurant l'Era - Serving traditional Mediterranean and Valencian dishes
  • Blanca Bikes - a café and bike rental hub popular with cyclists.

The Surrounding Area

Alcalalí

Alcalalí is another charming village of the Vall de Pop, just a few minutes away from Parcent, and known for its almond blossom in February and the associated festival.
