What to do in Alcalalí

Fiestas

Feslalí

Feslalí is when they celebrate the blooming almond trees, which occurs in the month of February, where each year they prepare something different including artisan fairs, concerts and workshops. It's also a great opportunity to learn about the history and nature of the town as they organise various events that celebrate everything that makes Alcalalí what it is.

As a part of the festival, they also host competitions such as photography marathons and in 2025 they are holding a contest for baking carob cakes and rapid painting.

Sant Joan de Mosquera

In June the festivities are dedicated to Saint Joan de Mosquera and the Christ of Health, when they arrange a variety of activities that are suitable for adults or children.

Sant Miquel

In August they honour Sant Miquel where they celebrate with traditional cocà, a round piece of dough baked with tomato and other local ingredients, accompanied by a glass of mistela.

La Virgen de los Desamparados

Also in August, during the first or second week, three days are dedicated to the celebration of la Virgen de los Desamparados, Saint Anthony and Saint Roch. The festivities include processions, dances and dinner.

Museum of Ethnology

Alcalalí's old oil mill closed in 1998 has since been converted into the town’s museum of ethnology, where you can find out more about the history of the town and its agricultural history, while also discovering more about the process of producing olive oil and wine.

Careline Theatre

Alcalalí is also home to the non-for-profit Careline Theatre that performs a variety of shows throughout the year in the Marina Alta, as well as offering acting and dancing classes.

Hiking

Almendras en Flor

There are two routes that the local council have prepared as part of the Feslalí celebrations, designed to allow visitors to explore the local area and see the almond trees in bloom. There is a low difficulty route and a medium difficulty route.

Coll de Rates

Alternatively you can take the PR-CV 425 that takes you via Parcent to Coll de Rates and back again passing by various points of interest, such as the Ermita San Joan de Mosquera, with spectacular views of the Vall de Pop.

Dénia

Beach lovers are less than a 30 minute drive to Dénia, which also has some of the biggest and most celebrated festivals in the region. A major port town of the Marina Alta, it is well connected to other major cities and balearic islands.
