Orba is one of the central municipalities of the Marina Alta, surrounded by picturesque landscapes and known for its community spirit and growing international population.
What to do in Orba
Museu del Fang
This museum showcases various pieces from Orba's pottery heritage, highlighting its culutural and economic importance from the 17th to the 19th century.
El Castellet
El Castellet, the remains of a twelfth-century castle, is located on the Tossal del Puig. It has undergone various works over the last decade to restore and preserve it's integrity.
Paintball
Paintball Orba organises events for adults and children alike in a space of 4000 square metres.
Hiking
Near Orba, there are a few official routes registered with the FEMECV, however it's recommended to check with local authorities or hiking groups before starting any hike.
El Castellet (SL-CV 92)
This short circular trail will climbs the Tossalet and to the medieval fortress of El Castellet with excellent views of the surrounding area.
Font de Centella Route (PR-CV 368)
A more demanding hike, this route leads to the Font de Centella and the Isbert Dam. Great for exploring the natural landscape of the Orba mountain and Girona river.
Sender de les Atzavares (SL-CV 185)
The Sender de les Atzavares is a great route that takes you from El Campell to Orba via the old sanitorium of Fontilles, which was originally a walled leper colony.
Fiestas
Patronal Festivities
Orba honours La Mare de Déu dels Desemparats around the second Sunday of May, with religious processions, music, fireworks and cultural activities.
Festes Populars d'Orba
Held from the end of July into early August, these popular festivities include live music, traditional games, community dinners, bull events, and a wide range of entertainment for all ages.
Patronal Festivities of Orbeta
On the second weekend of July, they honour the patron saint of Orbeta, Santíssimo Crist de l’Agonia in which the local Orberes participate in masses and a procession along the Barraca d’Orbeta.
