Fleix, also known as Poble d'Enmig (Middle Village), is one of the three villages that make up the Vall de Laguar. Located between Benimaurell and Campell, it is where hikers can find some of the region's most popular hiking routes.

Fiestas

Patronal Festivities

Fleix celebrates its patronal festivities on the first weekend of September in honour of the Virgen de los Dolores, San Pascual and Santa Teresa. Celebrations include an evening procession followed by a street party.

Hiking

Catedral de Senderismo

The Catedral de Senderismo is one of the best-known hiking routes in the Marina Alta, with more than 6,000 steps carved into the mountainside as it winds through the Vall de Laguar.

The route currently meets the necessary quality controls according to the FEMECV.

Serra del Penyó Roc

The Serra del Penyó Roc is a shorter route of approximately 6km that takes hikers around the Barranc ravine and the Girona River as well passing the Isbert Reservoir, a popular spot for photographs.

The FEMECV currently states that the required quality controls are not in place, so check current conditions with local guides before attempting.

Les Valls

The Les Valls route is a demanding trail of approximately 40km, beginning in Fleix and continuing to the summit of La Safor.

Although information about the route is still available online, it has since been removed from the official FEMECV registry. Hikers should therefore not rely on older route information and should speak to local guides before attempting it.

Where to Eat in Fleix

The Vall de Laguar has a variety of great restaurants, two of which can be found in Fleix:

• All i Menta serves traditional Valencian food on weekend evenings.
• Bar El Barranc is a traditional village bar serving sandwiches and Valencian dishes and is open most of the week.

The Surrounding Area

Castell de Castells

One of the most interior municipalities of the Marina Alta known for its mountainous terrain, where you can visit the Pla de Petracos, considered some of the most important cave paintings in Europe.

Orba

Orba is a short drive from Fleix and provides a wider range of shops, restaurants and everyday services. The town also has a Museum of Pottery and the remains of its castle among the places worth exploring.
