El Poble Nou de Benitatxell is located in the south-eastern part of the Marina Alta. Historically, it is known for moscatel wine and bean cultivation, which the region celebrates to this day with local festivals.

Wine Tourism

Benitatxell's reputation for moscatel makes it a popular destination for wine tourism in the Marina Alta.

During the warmer months, visitors can explore local vineyards, learn about traditional cultivation methods, and discover the area's growing focus on sustainable and ecological farming practices. Wine tastings and guided tours offer an excellent introduction to one of the region's most important agricultural traditions.

Fiestas

Sant Antoni

The festival of Sant Antoni is traditionally associated with the blessing of animals.

Benitatxell marks the occasion with community meals, parades and celebrations that often include horseback riding and horse-drawn carts.

Mitjafava Fest

Held during April, Mitjafava celebrates two of Benitatxell's best-known agricultural products: beans and wine.

The programme includes tastings, tapas fairs and activities highlighting local produce and traditions.

Festival of the Rose

The Festival of the Rose starts at the beginning of May in honour of the Virgen del Rosario

Blessed bread is delivered to residents and the town organises activities for all ages, street parties, costume parades and rooster racing.

Festes Mayores

The Festes Mayores begin in July in honour of Santa María Magdalena.

The celebrations typically include fireworks displays, traditional dances and bull runs, as well as relgious activities and entertainment for children.

Hiking

Barranco de la Viuda - Cala Moraig

This route begins in the neighbouring municipality of Teulada-Moraira at the base of Widow's Mountain accessible from Calle Gaviota.

The route follows the ravines to the coast, before following the cliffs from Cala Llebeig to Cala Moraig, with spectactular views of Benitatxell's rugged coastline.

According to the FEMECV trail registry, this route currently maintains the necessary quality controls.

Cueva de los Arcos

Near Cala Moraig you can find the Cueva de los Arcos, an impressive rock formation caused by thousands of years of erosion.
