A Guide to Parcent
Parcent is one of the southwestern municipalities of the Marina Alta that forms part of Vall de Pop along with Benichembla, Murla and Alcalalí.
Surrounded by greenery and mountains, the stunning views, great weather and tranquil lifestyle make it an idyllic place to live.
Bars & Restaurants
Parcent might be small but it has some great culinary options that offer more than just a bit to eat and a drink.
The more traditional places such La Estufa or L’Era are great places for delicious Valencian dishes or tapas.
Blanca Bikes Cafe on the other hand not only offers great breakfast options but also serves as a place to hire bikes and join guided cycling tours, which are very popular in the Marina Alta.
Also in Parcent is the Cooperativa Agrícola El Progrés, which also doubles up as a theatre where they host performances and talks.
Wine lovers should also take a look at organising a tour of the Bodegas Gutiérrez de la Vega, a stunning location and local wine producer.
Fiestas
The fiesta of Saint Antoni is celebrated on the 17th of January.
Saint Llorenç the patron saint of Parcent is honoured during festivities during the second week of August.
Hiking
The Carrascal de Parcent, PR-CV 158, is a moderately difficult route of approximately 14km. The natural beauty and the stunning views however make it well worth the effort taking to various points of interest such as the Fuente de la Foia or the Cova dels Coloms.
Leisure
Are you looking for a bit of excitement or need to entertain the children? Approximately a kilometre from the town centre you can find Vitalparcentre – an outdoor adventure park suitable for all ages and events.
The Surrounding Area
If you’re leaving Vall de Pop, head north to Orba, a great place to explore whether you want more hiking routes, to learn more about the history of the region or take your children to a pizzeria or the sports centre.
Pedreguer is a great place to visit – it is close to some beautiful hiking routes, has a market every Sunday, or you can visit the casa de cultura for exhibitions, competitions and other events.
Jalon also hosts a market, but on Tuesdays, where you can find vintage furniture, fossils and all sorts of interesting treasures, and it is known for its bodegas where you can sample great wines and liqueurs.
