A guide to Llíber

A guide to Llíber

14 08 - 2024

Llíber is a rural village found in the interior of the Marina Alta forming part of the Vall de Pop, a region known for its vineyards and almond groves. The village itself is typically associated with moscatel grapes.

Smaller and quieter than its neighbours Xaló and Benissa, Llíber benefits from easy access to the amenities and coastline of the Marina Alta, while maintaining a relaxed, rural pace of life.

What to do in Lliber

Casa Agricola

The Casa Agricola is one of the best known wineries in the Vall de Pop, offering wine tourism experiences focusing on local wines and gastronomy.

Visitors can enjoy tastings accompanied by Spanish cheeses and Iberian hams, and a tour, discovering more about the vineyards, of which some date back to the early 20th century.

Casa Agricola was also recognised as Spain's most sustainable Bodega in 2024.

Fiestas

Llíber celebrates its patronal festivities during the second half of August, with approximately two weeks of activities such as processions, concerts, bull running and community meals that include a gigantic paella.

Hiking

Camí Dels Morterets

The Camí Dels Morterets follows the historic route connecting Llíber and Senija, a part of the local heritage that still has much of the original paving and steps that formed the route.

According to the FEMECV trail registry, the route currently has quality control in place.

Riu de Gorgos

The Camí del Riu de Gorgos is a 9km section of the historic route that connected the Vall de Pop with the coastal towns, passing through vineyards, farmland and the natural scenery surrounding the Gorgos river.

Trail information from the FEMECV indicates that the route currently has adequate signage.

Where to Eat in Lliber

Despite its size, Llíber has several bars and restaurants where you can enjoy tapas, Mediterranean cuisine and local wine, including Restaurante Vall de Pop, which can be found on Camí la Bassa, which combines traditional local food with an Asian influence.

The Surrounding Area

Gata de Gorgos

Gata de Gorgos is known for its long tradition of craftsmanship, particularly the production of classical guitars and traditional woven products.
