What to do in La Vall d'Alcalá
Hiking
The Ruta de Les Neveres is formed of a mixture of paths and forest tracks where you can explore this beautiful region, discovering the interesting heritage of the Vall d'Alcalá; On this route you can visit the remains of the 13th century village of Saltes and the ice houses which were used snow from the mountains to produce ice for selling at markets.
Castell de Al-Azraq
Known by various names, the Castle of Alcalá, the castle of Benissili o hisn al-Qala, it is actually located in the La Vall de Gallinera, but there is a circular path with spectacular views that will take you up to the castle and the peak Xarpolar.
Fiestas
Saint Anthony
On the weekend closest to the 17th of January is the bonfire of Saint Antoni.
Al-Azraq
In July they host the gastronomic festival of Al-Azraq with traditional products from the local area, music and theatre productions.
Patronal Festivities
In the Vall d'Alcala, both the villages have their own patron saint festivals:
- Alcalà de la Jovada: From August 7th to 14th.
- Beniaia: During the third weekend of September.
