A Guide to Dénia's Beaches

A Guide to Dénia's Beaches

Denia is home to a long list of beaches and coves, whether you want to be close to the casco urbano, the rocky Les Rotes or take a stroll along the 3 kilometres of sand and participate in some water sports.

If you can see yourself living in this great coastal town, you'll find a great variety of options including chalets, luxury villas and apartments within walking distance of the beaches or with views of the Mediterranean.

Les Marines

Les Marines is the name given to the beaches that are located along the Carretera de les Marines a Dénia, which, starting with the beach furthest from the Casco Urbano includes the following:

  • Les Deveses
  • L'Almadrava
  • Platja l'Estanyó
  • Els Molins
  • Les Bovetes

For the most part they are all sandy beaches, with the exception of L'Almadrava, which is a mixture of sand and stone.

All along this stretch you will be able to find chiringuitos, and spaces for playing football or volleyball, but depending on whether the precautions are in place or not you might not be permitted to wind or kite surf.

For instance L'Almadrava is not marked for surfing of any kind, however if you visit Playa Les Deveses, there is a seasonal surf school open from easter to the 31st of August.

Similar to Arenal of Javea all along the Carretera de les Marines you will be able to find many bars and restaurants that offer the opportunity to relax and eat when you want to take a break from the sun, sea and sand.

Punta del Raset

This beach is situated between the port of Denia and Les Marines. 570 metres of sand, less than a kilometre the walls of Denia Castle it is the closest beach to the Casco Urbano and is one of Denia's busier beaches.

Punta del Raset has plenty to offer in terms of entertainment for all ages. You can find volleyball nets, often see people practicing kite or wind surfing and the Chiringuitos offer a range of drinks as well offer hammocks and umbrellas for rent.

Also, there are installations for children such as a climbing frame and, a short swim away from the beach, is a floating adventure playground.

Marineta Cassiana

The Marineta Cassiana beach is the first of the area known as Les Rotes, which also includes El Trampoli and the area known as Arenetes. Of all the southern beaches of Denia, this is the only one that is sandy.

Its waters are shallow, and the entrance to the neighbouring sports marina have converted this beach into a small, protected bay with almost no waves, making La Marineta Cassiana safer for families with small children and those that prefer calmer waters.

El Trampoli

This rocky beach gets it's name from a wooden diving board that is used by bathers to jump into the sea.

El Trampoli is another of the beaches that forms part of Les Rotes and the nature reserve of Cape Saint Anthony, making it an ideal spot for snorkelling where you may encounter meadows of neptune grass and even corals that are unique to the Mediterranean
