A quick guide to Benidorm

A quick guide to Benidorm

26 02 - 2025

Benidorm is the tourist capital of the Valencian community with more skyscrapers than any other Spanish city and home to the tallest hotel in Europe.

A study completed in 2025, based on 2023 data, estimates that the city receives an average of over 200,000 visitors per month, with a peak of 2 million in August.

As one of Spain's most popular holiday destinations you're guaranteed a lively atmosphere and year round entertainment.

What to do in Benidorm

Museo Boca del Calvari

The museum of Boca del Calvari, opened in 2015, and serves as a space for exhibitions dedicated to contemporary art and the history of Benidorm.

Historically the building was the first town hall of the municipality.

Fiestas

Las Fallas

Las Fallas is one of the most famous festivals in the Valencian Community, celebrated every March with a spectacular program of events.

The festival begins with La Cridà and includes pyrotechnic displays, parades, and a paella competition. However, its biggest attraction is the huge artistic monuments, which are set ablaze in a dramatic finale, drawing visitors from across Spain.

Fogueres Sant Joan

The Bonfires of Sant Joan, held every June, mark the arrival of summer with traditional bonfires, parades, and celebrations throughout Benidorm.

The start of the festivities begin with each district building a bonfire as part of a competition, before they are set alight at the festival’s end. Other highlights include the offering of flowers to the Virgen del Remedio, a folk parade with floats, and live music and dancing.

Cagà de la Burra

One of the more peculiar festivals, Cagà de la Burra, involves a donkey and a piece of land divided into various plots.

What makes it interesting is participants are able to win 1,000€ by betting in which plot the donkey will leave the most droppings.

Patronal Festivities

Every November, Benidorm honours its patron saint, La Virgen del Sufragio, with a week of parades, live music, and pyrotechnic displays.

On Poniente Beach, they also reenact the discovery of the Virgin’s image in the ashes of a deserted ship. The vessel, found abandoned after a severe storm, was burned out of fear of disease.
